The answer is yes! But why?

When the Patriarch, Abraham (know then as Abram), heard the call of God and left his homeland, a sequence of events was begun which has affected world history to this day.

Abraham was the forefather of the Jewish race and God made a promise to him. He promised that he would have descendants which would outnumber the stars in the sky and the sand on the sea-shore, and which would be a blessing to the world. What Abraham didn't understand, was that this meant one of his descendants would be the great promised one; The Mesheach (The Messiah).

It was The Messiah who was going to set his people free; bring in a new glorious kingdom and defeat the old enemy, the serpent (the devil) who had spoiled things in the very beginning. Is it any wonder then, that all down through history this enemy should seek to destroy the vehicle of his own annahilation, and when that failed, and Messiah (Yeshua-Jesus) did come, the enemy should turn God's own people against God's Messiah and the whole world against the Jews. Oh yes, the Jews are special, very special.

The supreme sad irony is that the Jewish people did not recognise their Messiah when he came, but God still plans that the whole world will be blessed through the Jews, via Jesus.
