In the UK, Members of Parliament are elected by voters to be representatives of the people. All too often these same MP's are more loyal to their political masters than the people there are elected to represent. Here then are those UK Members of Parliament who, as far as the issue of lowering the homosexual age of consent are concerned, are also suffering from.....
Dis-orientation
So outraged was the Roman Catholic newspaper, The Catholic Herald, with those religious MPs particularly Catholics, had betrayed their faith by supporting the June 1998 Commons move to equalise the age of consent for heterosexuals and homosexuals at 16, that they, "named and shamed" 26 including the Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

The paper commented, "Their 'political correctness' may be faultless," it said. "But their betrayal of the people's trust is not. For Roman Catholic MPs slavishly to follow the Labour line, regardless of the damage done to young people, is the more reprehensible."

Mr Blair is not a Catholic, but is a devout Christian and has attended Catholic Mass. His wife Cherie is a practising Catholic and they send their sons to a leading grant-maintained Catholic school.

The MPs named as voting to lower the gay age of consent while professing to be either Catholics or of another strong religious faith which does not accept homosexuality in its scriptures are:

  • Tony Blair,
  • Harriet Harman,
  • Mike O'Brien,
  • John Reid,
