Netscape Colours
The basic information below came from the amazingly useful, and huge! - "HTML Reference Library v3.0" - by Stephen Le Hunte,who can be contacted at cmlehunt@swan.ac.uk. This is a rich source of all things HTML and comes as a windows style 'HELP' file. Excellent!

This page details the 140 possible discrete named colours supported by Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer (when employing Style Sheets). Colours surrounded by a pair of ** characters are also supported by Internet Explorer for all elements that support colouring.

This means you can enter a name for a colour, rather than the #rgb values. The top row of the table is done like this (just to prove it!) and works in Net. Nav. but if you're viewing with Internet Explorer be warned!. This is quite useful, BUT(!) it should be noted that, these colour names are not supported by other browsers and their display would be unreliable, unless the #rrggbb value is used instead. Can't win 'em all! Overall, it's safer to use the #rgb format - tough eh!?
