Contrary to current marital ideologies - that normal life is serial mogonomy (with or without getting married) - we would like to say that if the right people get together, with God's guidance, and work very hard at it, marriage can and should last a lifetime. So here's our own little remembrance page to celebrate our Silver Wedding on 1st July 1997. Who said schmultz is dead? |
This is the awful truth of us in 1972, and yes, Dave's suit did have flared trousers - and very smart they looked to! He also had hair! |
The three cards shown are just representational, but this card is a bit special. It was made for us by really good friends with long memories and an old photo album, and shows one of the few colour (color - for our american readers) photos of the wedding day. |
We received over 50 cards (and lots of lovely gifts) from friends, which was great. We also managed to have two celebrations; an afternoon tea at our home church, in Birkenhead, on Sunday 29th June 97, and an evening party, in Essex, for old(?) friends on Saturday 5th July 97. |
A special mention is a must here. Well done Gill (Jan's sister) for organising the Essex 'do', and for her husband, Chris, who did all the photos, of which one is below, and organised the evening's music. Poor Gill lived with this for nearly a year - it was worth it. |

This is the 25 years-on version. All things considered, we've worn fairly well, with God's help. So now - to coin a phrase - we're going for gold. |
Well, that's our 25th Anniversary. Do come back in 2022 to see how we're doing. "Pass the Zimmer frame dear" back to dave's place |
