| Over the years we have been actively interested in supporting a number of organisations dealing with human social issues, Human Rights and general Christian interests, as well as working in organisations dealing with drug abuse, AIDS and related issues.
It was against this background that I wanted to use this site to help promote a number of these organisations. At the moment only one or two are in any way 'on-line'. Those that are, have links to them. For the others the old fashion phone or snail mail will have to do. Life is tough!

LIFE Concentrating on the caring, rather than campaigning side of the pro-life cause, LIFE has established itself as a leader in the provision of counselling and Pregnancy Care Services for girls and women who, finding themselves to be pregnant, may be considering abortion, or who are being pressurised into abortion. They also offer counselling to those suffering from post-abortion trauma. They have established 137 local LIFE counselling centres, operated by volunteers, often from professional backgrounds such as nursing. In addition, they operate a National Hotline which handles some 8000 calls a year and run 40 houses in the UK to accomodate homeless mothers before and after birth. This makes LIFE the largest single provider in the UK for this specialist housing! LIFE produces a regular newspaper, 'LIFE News' available free to members, which is a rich source of news, developments, comments and statistics. Like SPUC, LIFE also has an evangelical group - Evangelicals for Life, which tends to address specific Christian issues.

The Evangelical Alliance UK Promoting Evangelical Unity - Representing Evangelical Concern Founded in 1846, the E.A. has seen, a reversal of evangelical decline, and since the 1960's has witnessed a blossoming of the evangelical cause. Its strength has been to draw together evangelicals from every Christian denomination, and give them a voice, which together is greater than the sum of their parts. Acting as a focal point, a think tank and a initiator, the E.A. has encouraged such events as, 'Spring Harvest', the Keswick Convention, 'March for Jesus and many more. The organisation has also helped evangelicals recover their social conscience, lost for the first half of the 20th century. In 1968 they founded TEAR Fund, now one of the leading agencies acting as a channel for aid to meet the needs of the poor world-wide, and they promote work to aid Christians facing persecution in other countries. They produce a wide range of resources and a monthly magazine, 'IDEA'

Together for the Harvest Together for the Harvest. is the local expression of the national organisation, The Evangelical Alliance UK, and essentially it does the same sort of work, only on a much smaller scale. It is one of about 30 similar groups nationwide. At present there are no full-time, paid, staff, but plenty of enthusiastic, and committed, full-time and unpaid volunteers. TFH grew out of two early works; the "Merseyside Evangelical Alliance Trust" (MEAT), and "North-West Christian Leaders" which drew together churches and groups across Merseyside. The two groups merged to form TFH acts as a spring-board for many events including: Liverpool for Christ; John 17:21; Worship Leaders and Musicians Forum and many others.

The Jubilee Centre The Jubilee Centre concentrates its energies on urging Christians to think seriously about contemporary social issues. Their message is an unequivocal, "Christians, get involved!". In alliance with a number of other groups they have fought a long battle over the Sunday Trading Issue, but are also concerned with issues surrounding the National Lottery, Care for the Elderly, Penal politics and wealth and debt. Currently they are working to provide the biblical foundations to underpin the work of the Relationships Foundation, a sister organisation seeking to strengthen relationships in public and private life, and are researching biblical teaching on healthcare provision. They have a good range of resources including literature, books and cassettes, and produce regular newsletters for members.

Jubilee Campaign and Jubilee Action Jubilee Campaign Jubilee Campaign is a British based human rights group who have a wide base of support from British Members of Parliament. They take hold of issues - a recent one being child prostitution outside the UK - and lobby for new laws to be framed, for the issues to be taken up internationally (ie. at the U.N.) and for the governments of the concerned countries to act. One of the recent landmark successes in the child prostitution campaign was that the British Home Office has now said it will bring in appropriate legislation which will allow for the prosecution of British nationals who abuse children abroad. They also raise awareness of the difficult and dangerous situations in which other human rights campaigners find themselves, in countries which have poor human rights records, such as Malaysia and the Philippines. Jubilee Campaign also mobilise grass roots involvement by encouraging groups and individuals to organise petitions, write letters and send postcards. They have large resources of campaigning material. email: info@jubileecampaign.co.uk

However, they don't confine their activity to outside the U.K. but are also involved at home, in fact, anywhere that children are abused or exploited. Jubilee Action produces a regular news-sheet for supporters, and has good resources available, as well as a wealth of up-to-date information. Note: Jubilee Campaign and Jubilee Action are not connected with the Jubilee Centre. Jubilee Director: Danny Smith Both organisations are based at:

| ![]() TFT is a national Christian support and teaching ministry offering hope and help to men and women struggling with homosexuality, lesbianism and similar issues, and to their families and friends. They exist - in their own words - because, "in recent years homosexuality among both men and women has become a much more open subject. Gay and lesbian rights groups increasingly campaign for the acceptance of homosexuality as a valid lifestyle. Many people are now questioning their attitudes to the subject". TFT offers counselling, help, advice, pastoral support, befrienders and teaching. It has an extensive range of books, articles, testimonies, cassettes and videos. There is a membership scheme for those who are committed to the ideals of TFT, and wish to have closer links and help support the work. Members receive a regular newsletter. TFT is a member of the Evangelical Alliance, the Association of Christian Counsellors, and Exodus Europe.
