Jews For Jesus

Jews for Jesus began as a slogan, became a movement and is now the name of an international organization whose purpose is to proclaim the message that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel and the Saviour of the world. Their statement is that Jesus - or to use his Hebrew name, Y'shua - is the Messiah promised to the Jewish people and the saviour of the world; that he accomplished our salvation by dying as an atonement for our sins and rising again on the third day; and that anyone, Jew or Gentile, who believes in him will be saved.

They have 16 localities worldwide. You can find links to all these locations on their web site's addresses page. There are also chapters in about 75 other cities where co-laborers carry out various aspects of the ministry on a volunteer basis. In addition to their branches and chapters, they have mobile evangelistic teams such as the "Liberated Wailing Wall", who tour the country for 11 months of the year using music, drama, tract distribution and visitation in those areas not covered by branches and chapters.

Plenty of very good literature and resources available. Newsletters etc for supporters and other interested folk.

Medina Valley Centre logo

Medina Valley Centre

Founded in the winter of 1962/3 (the year the sea froze over!) as the Christian Sailing Centre by Don and Val Hester, M.V.C. is today flourishing as a leading outdoor centre. Their philosophy of providing creative and re-creative activity has expanded to encompass G.C.S.E. and G.C.E. 'A' level field study courses in the subjects of Geography, Biology and Natural History, as well as providing holidays offering walking, art, and the old stalwart, sailing! They are RYA approved and have a comprehensive brouchure which is yours for the asking. We know this is a good place to go - we used to work there!

Being at the forefront of outdoor study centres has also meant getting into computer technology, and they have their own DARTCOM satellite weather link, as well as being on the Internet.

Soon logo

Soon Magazine

Designed for folk for whom English is a second (or even 3rd) language, 'Soon' magazine has, for a number of years, been distributed world-wide in the usual printed format. Now they have ventured into the cyber-age and gone 'on-line'. The cyber version of the magazine offers a wide range of resources for its readers. For those who are interested, there is the 'Easy English True Stories' section. If your prefer current affairs, then that is catered for as well.

There are sections about; 'Visiting Britain', 'Learning English', a 'Teachers' Page' and 'This Month's Feature' all presented in the same easy style. Add to all this the competition page, and you have an excellent on-line magazine which knows its target audience very well, and goes for it.

However, 'Soon', is not only there to provide interesting articles. It also has a section which gives a clear presentation of the Christian faith, but it not rammed down the reader's throat.

B.B.I. logo

Birmingham Christian College Logo

Birmingham Bible Institute

Well, we have to admit to a real interest in this one - we (Jan and I) were students here from 1980-83. We survived!

Located less than one mile from the centre of Birmingham, Britain's second largest city right at the heart of the nation, B.B.I. was an interdenominational evangelical training college founded over 40 years ago in order to prepare Christians to serve the Lord throughout the world in pastoral and evangelistic work. Their emphasis was on the balance between teaching in the classroom and hands-on experience in the city and churches, with a variety of opportunities for preaching, placements and mission.

This blended well with personal development through prayer, worship and personal counselling. Prayer groups of various kinds, worship meetings and devotional quiet days formed a regular and integral part of college life. The college had always been noted for its ministry and vision for renewal through the Holy Spirit and revival. Prayer groups as well as courses sought to reflect that. Students came from all kinds of backgrounds and nationalities. The range of testimony as well as culture was quite impressive and students learnt much from one another.

Courses included a Certificate, Diploma and B.A.in Theology (Validated by University of Wales) and B.B.I.'s own Certificate and Diploma in Christian Ministries. They also offered a range of part-time courses.

In September 2000 BBI joined with Springdale College to form the Birmingham Christian College, and relocated to another part of Birmingham.

A full prospectus is available upon request from the Registrar at Birmingham Christian College.
