I have been researching the Peddie family tree here in New Zealand.
John Peddie: married to Elizbeth had a son:
William b 28 Mar 1777 in Drainie.
I believe they also had
- Isobel: b 6 April 1781, born in Outland? or Outlett? and

Elizabeth b 22 May 1788 in Outlett??
The daughters are not confirmed: see difference in birth dates, but there could be more children that I don't know about.
We are descended from this same William Peddie, (a crofter). He married Mary Groat or Grott. Their children that I know of are:
- Elizabeth b 29 Jul 1804 Cummingston, Duffus, Elgin d 5 Apr 1885 married to John Robb, a Grocer, with one child William b 1841
- John b 29 May 1808 at Westfield, Duffus d 27 Nov 1885 at 9 Park Street, Burghead, Duffus. John married Isabella Miller 12 Dec 1839 at Duffus, Moray, Scotland (Isabella was christened on 25 May 1816 at Knockando, Moray, Scotland) Isabella died 3 May 1858 in Cummingston.
John and Isabella's children:
- William b 21 Nov 1840, Moffat, Morayshire, Scotland d 5 Feb 1919 in Dunedin. He married Margaret Sharp from Larbert.
- Catherine, b 1842 in Burghead, Elgin, Duffus Parish
- John b 1845 in Cummingston, Duffus
- James b 1849 d 1881 Burghead,
- Isabella b 1850 Cummingston, Duffus, Elgin. Isabella married Forres Munro
- Alexander b 1852, Burghead
- Elizabeth b 22 Aug 1856, Cummingston, Duffus, Elgin
- Elizabeth is married to a Smith
- Margaret B 10 May 1856 d 16 Jun 1858 Cummingston
All were born in Cummingston, Duffus.
William and Margaret are my gg grandparents.
Family information is that John's brothers emigrated. One to America, one to South Africa and one to India.
We have never traced any of them so don't know if it is a true story or not, and I am also not sure which
John it is.
I have copies of Census for Cummingston Village. 1841/51/61. In the 1871 census for Duffus, Co. Elgin, No. 131. Ed. 1 Sch.82 there is also a John who is a grandson aged 3 living with the family. I don't know who the parents are, as they are all stated unmarried.
Any information about the family would be greatly appreciated.
