My father was George Alexander Peddie, born in 1905 and died in 1972. He was a Professor of physics at Victoria University, Wellington and was deeply involved in the development of radiophysics. He had previously worked with Lord Rutherford. Born in Melbourne, Australia, his family shifted to New Zealand at some time. George's father was a master baker.
I'm John Graeme Peddie, born in 1944. I retired from the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1998 after 38 years service. My last appointment was that of Maritime Commander, New Zealand. Previously, I commander four frigates and our shore training establishment. My wife Dale and I now share "joint" command of a gold kiwifruit orchard in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty.
