GG Grandfather was David. G Grandfather was George. Both were born in Invernessshire, Scotland. From generational handed down stories, there are possible origins in Ireland too where the name was spelled Petty and in Scotland the 't's were changed to 'd'.
Our branch is from Perth Scotland, back to around 1835 where David PEDDIE is my brick wall. They went to Canada and George lived near a Donald Peddie in North Easthope. Some Peddies came into Canada thru Quebec and our family ended up in basically in Michigan and one branch went to California. I wondering if it was possible that my GG Grandfather, David's family was related to a James Peddie who was a clock maker. In our family there are common traits of different shades of red hair; the Peddie nose a big one like my Dad & Aunt had & the author J Cameron Peddie [who wrote the "Forgotten Talent"]; and we tend to have a Irish sense of humor. I have been searching Ontario [North Easthope /Toronto] where GGrampa George was but am beginning to wonder if I need to search more in Quebec or other Canada places to go back farther.
