What to do?

1. Make a decision that you and you family will make

   a Special day by focussing on Jesus' birth; by remembering the biblical story and all that we are accustomed to remembering.

2. To abandon the crass commercialism associated with the traditional Christmas celebrations; cards, presents, decorations, trees, etc., and make it a family day. Have a meal together but keep it simple. No slaving in the kitchen for anyone for hours on end, which only detracts from the joy of the occasion.

3. Tell your children why you are doing this.

4. Talk to you church leaders, minister, vicar or with whomever you fellowship and decide to do this for your whole fellowship.

5. Tell the local press.

6. Tell your friends.

7. Invite them to your meal perhaps?

8. If you are so inclined, incorporating some aspects of the Jewish Feast of the Tabernacles would add to the meaning. Remember, Jesus is Jewish and his birth came as a culmination of thousands of years of prophecy. He was the Messiah to the Jews first and then the Gentiles.
