| Buddy Holly: | "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" on April 24th 1959. Holly died in an air crash on 3rd February of that same year. |
| Eddie Cochran: | "Three Steps To Heaven" in June 1960. Cochran died in a car crash on 17th April that year. |
| Jum Reeves: | "Distant Drums" in September 1966. Reeves died in a plane crash on 31st July 1964. |
| Jimi Hendrix: | "Voodoo Chile" in November 1970. He chocked to death in the previous September. |
| Elvis Presley: | "Way Down" in September 1977. A month earlier he died from a heart attack. |
| John Lennon: | "(Just Like) Starting Over", "Imagine" and "Woman" in Dec/January 1980/81. He was shot dead on December 8th 1980. |
| Jackie Wilson: | "Reet Petite" in December 1986. Wilson died 2 years previously, but his record first entered the charts on 15th November 1957, which must make it the slowest climber of all time? |
| Freddie Mercury: | "Living On My Own" in August 1993. The singer died in November 1991. |
